Greetings and a warm welcome to everyone present here. A special word of welcome to the esteemed Chief Guest honorable District Collector Mr. Dilli Rao Ragu. Hearty Welcome to the respected Guest of Honour, Rev. Fr. Santiagu Thomas, Provincial and president of Don Bosco Society. Joyful welcome to our special guests Rev. Fr. Kishore, the correspondent of the school and vice-provincial of Hyderabad province. ………….., the director of Cauvery development office. I also would like to extend my hearty welcome to Rev. Fathers, Rev. Sisters, VIP’s of ……., dear parents, friends, well-wishers, friends from media and all those who are present here this evening.

Don Bosco School CBSE began its growth of wings in the year 2019. At the very outset, I thank the Almighty God, for all the blessings bestowed upon us during the past three years and protected us from the fatal disease covid-19. I am grateful to St. John Bosco, our father and founder for his guidance, protection and continuous assistance. With immense delight, I present to you, the Second Annual Report of Don Bosco school CBSE, Gunadala, for the academic year 2022-23.

When we review the past year, there is a feeling of satisfaction to see clear evidences of stability and sustainability, growth and development both in academics and administration, in school curriculum, extra-curricular programs, event – hosting, staff retention and many more. While the focus was on integral Education and holistic development of every student, real education takes the center stage in daily activities throughout this year.

The Management & Staff

Don Bosco School CBSE, Gunadala, is a unit of Global Don Bosco Schools found in more than 134 countries. This School is managed by three Salesian priests, namely Rev. Fr. Pasala Bhaskar SDB, the Principal and Rector, Rev. Fr. James Jerome SDB, the Administrator, and Rev. Fr. Michael SDB, the Spiritual animator.

On this auspicious moment we fondly remember our provincial Rev. Fr. Thomas Santhiagu, and his council who seeded this innovation and kept this mission close to their hearts. My heartfelt thanks go to Rev. Fr. Kishore, (Vice-Provincial), the former Rector and Correspondent, who tirelessly worked to get all the necessary permissions for the school, from the Education department, etc.

Our institution is blessed with good team of 59 staff at different capacities of them are 36 Teaching staff, 2 office staff, 2 receptionists 11 supportive staff, 2 security staff 3 bus drivers, and 3 bus cleaner who render their committed service to this institution. They help in the orderly functioning of this institution which caters to 687 students from Pre-K.G to Grade IX with the motto “Illuminating Heart, Mind and Soul”.

School Ambience:

Our School has an Eco-friendly, welcoming and inclusive campus. Our children feel comfortable and safe in our campus. There are strong bonds among the management, staff and the parents. The parents are positive partners in the education of the students in our School. Parents extend their invaluable support to the school by sparing their time and effort. We appreciate their thoughtful gestures.

Academics:

The school makes constant efforts to transform every student a good thinker. We have adopted the Preventive system which is the unique educative method developed by Don Bosco in the year 1846. It is based on three pillars: Reason, Godliness and Loving Kindness. The system of education in Don Bosco School CBSE, is in proportion to arriving at an integral education.

We focus on developing ten Life skills in Academics they are: Problem solving, Decision making, Creative thinking, Critical analysis, Self-awareness, Empathy, Interpersonal relationship, Good Communication, Management of stress and Management of Emotions. This is done through a Unique 5D process: Discover, Define, Design, Develop and Deploy.

In our school every lesson is taught with lot fun filled activities using audio-visual Aids and project works.

Facilities and the Care Given

Every year our school makes all the efforts to improve its standard and facilities. The School offers clean and green campus, which is the asset of this institution.  We have well trained Teachers, Class rooms with Digital panels, Pragmatic teaching, Green Environment, Resourceful Library, Updated labs, Spirited Sports, and desktop for the teachers to evaluate and encourage students.

In addition to this …

  • We have introduced co-curricular activities like: Karate, Yoga, Music, Kuchipudi, Bhrathanatyam, skating, Kho-Kho, Football, Basketball, Cricket and Shuttle in the school.

House System/clubs: House system was inaugurated in our school on 31st August 2022, to make our educative system very vibrant and creative. The Staff and Students were divided into four clubs 1. Art & Cultural club 2. Literary club, 3. Maths & Science club, and 4. Sports and Games club. All the class activities, competitions and cultural events were conducted basing on this club system. Opportunities are provided to the students to take up leadership as school Pupil Leaders and Assistant School Pupil Leader, Class leaders, sports captains and vice captains, etc.

Educational Expo and think room day was organized on 17th December 2022, in which students from class 1st to 09th exhibited all their innovative projects and inventions. Parents and other visitors appreciated the initiatives and efforts made by the students.

Exposure Programme: In order to facilitate practical learning, the school organized exposure programmes in the month September for the classes 1st to 9th. Students visited Museum and the historical Undavalli caves.

Appreciation Badge: Students from classes 7, 8, and 9 have prepared and awarded appreciation badge for the traffic police and the government bus drivers as a token of love and appreciation for the services they render for the safety and protection of the public.

Competitions:

The School conducted various competitions in our school to bring out the best in the students such as: Sports and Games, Fancy dress competition, singing competition, Storytelling competition, speech competition, Poster making, Elocution, Picture identification, Rangoli Competition, Traditional Games, Mind puzzles, making and colouring Greeting Card, GK Quiz Competition, Solo Dance, Clay Modeling and waste management, Spell Bee competition, Hand writing competition, Diya preparation and Drawing competition. The winners were awarded in the month of November as the month is dedicated to Children.

 

Blessing of Courts: The renovated drive, park for the children, Basketball, skating rink and shuttle courts were blessed by Rev. Fr. Santiagu Thomas, the provincial of Hyderabad province. This was one of the significant days for the school.

Solar energy: We are proud to say that Don Bosco school is the only school in and around Vijayawada functioning by using Solar energy, thus cooperating in saving the environment.

   

Empowering Staff Members:

The institution is very particular in recruiting qualified and efficient staff and trains them to impart quality education to our students.

  • Every Saturday our school staff is animated by the Principal on acquainting with the Pedagogy of Don Bosco, on developments in the field of education, and they are motivated consistently.
  • On every Wednesday the staff meet in groups according to the subject to discuss and enhance one another to be more creative in their teaching and be approachable to the students.
  • Various seminars were organized for the teachers to enhance their teaching skills.
  • Our kindergarten teachers were given special training in “innovative teaching skills” by Macmillan.

Festivals and Celebrations:

India is a land of “Unity in Diversity”. Here people respect different religions, creeds, castes, languages, cultures, lifestyle, dressing sense and faith in God. This noble value is instilled in the children through the celebrations of all the major festivals regardless of religion, language and culture.

Future Initiatives:

In the coming year the school going to initiate the special program called TalentEase. It is to create Leaders for Tomorrow with character, competence and convictions.

The Second initiative is the Language lab. It is to develop proficiency and command over language by way of listening and practicing.

Conclusion: As I conclude this Annual report, I would sincerely thank everyone who were instrumental for the growth of this institution, especially our Provincial Rev. Fr. Santiagu Thomas, with whose special interest on this institution has enabled us to grow up to this level.

Finally, I entrust our institution at the feet of the Lord and under the guidance of St. John Bosco and ask their blessings for the days to come.

Education does not mean just the ability to read and write but it is the process of holistic development of a child. The pragmatic approach imparts learning by experimenting and experiencing the facts around.
