An Orientation Programme for Kindergarten teachers was conducted by Mrs. Rajalakshmi, a resource person from Rachna Sagar Publishers. The session focused on the effective utilization of the learning kits and teaching resources provided for both teachers and students.
The resource person demonstrated various methods of teaching Arts and Crafts, while emphasizing the importance of developing children’s socio-emotional, logical, numeracy, and handwriting skills. Teachers were guided on the effective use of worksheets for classwork, homework, and slip tests, as well as the integration of rhymes and storybooks into daily classroom activities.
The programme also highlighted activities related to general awareness, sense organs, and family values, helping children understand themselves and their surroundings. Special emphasis was laid on making the best use of Circle Time to encourage communication, social interaction, and emotional expression among children.
The resource person stressed that kindergarten teachers should possess immense patience and sensitivity while dealing with young learners. She discussed the importance of recognizing and nurturing children’s emotions and explained how the Teacher’s Manual can be effectively used for planning and conducting engaging lessons. The session also reinforced the significance of the Play-Way Method in making learning enjoyable, meaningful, and child-centered.
The programme was highly informative and provided teachers with practical strategies and resources to create a stimulating and nurturing learning environment for young children.
